Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day

by Barbara on September 8, 2009

I been a little bit of a slacker lately about posting my baking adventures. I have been baking, but seem to put off posting. I have lots of pictures waiting for a post. Hopefully, now that the kids are back in school I’ll find more time to bake and blog. That is if I can pull myself away from Twitter and live with not being on the top of the leaderboard on Bejeweled Blitz!

One fun thing my boys and I did over the summer was whip up a batch of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day and create individual pizzas and calzones. Although the boys often stuck with pepperoni and cheese, we tried lots of great combinations and it was nice to see them interested in baking and creating their masterpieces.

I also made beautiful baguettes from the moist no-knead dough that you keep in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Bread making doesn’t get much easier than the great recipes in this book. So many recipes, so little time!

If you don’t already own this terrific cookbook, Simple Daily Recipes is currently having a giveaway for one Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day cookbook each week for the next four weeks.

The bread looks great. It's really easy to fall behind in blogging. Hope you'll have more time with the kids back in school.

I agree with you, this is a terrific book. There is something so satisfying about baking a beautiful loaf of bread. This is bread and soup weather.

I am a big fan of bread…from bread machine to artisan.
The weather is getting cooler, time for some sourdough bread.

I love this book too. I agree with HoneyB, there's nothing like a cold afternoon to bake up a warm loaf of bread. :) Glad to see you're back to blogging!

I soooo need to get this cookbook out and bake up some more bread from it. Bread scares me a little. I guess I should be in that BBA group!

I love ABin5, but haven't tried using their dough for pizza yet! What a fun idea. The kids always enjoy getting involved with dinner, and they love getting to pick their own toppings. I will have to try this soon!

I've heard rave reviews about it! But my hips worry about what will happen if I bring it home…

Love this book and need to bake out of it more because it seriously could not make making homemade bread any easier!
Ooh, I need to try pizza!

Wait until you see their new book, Healthy Breads in 5 Minutes A Day. There are some fabulous bread recipes in it. I think it will be out sometime in October.

I've only read reviews of the book and most people really love it. I'm such a skeptic about bread in five minutes a day, LOL. However, your pictures look soooo yummy-licious I'm going to check it out.
Good to see you back. Time flies and the days and hours can get away from us so easily.

I have the book but I need to get something to bake in. I have nothing that fit the criteria.

You have inspired me. No guarantees but maybe, I will do something about it. Maybe.

I need encouragement, Barbara.

I have only made the basic recipe but have loved it. I'm waiting for cooler weather to really get into it. Besides I have to clean my oven as I keep setting off the fire alarm with those high temp.

we've tried this recipe a few times now, but it never seems to rise well for me. It just spreads and I end up with a loaf that is quite heavy. But I am determined to get it right, so practice I will!! Yours looks great and has inspired me to give it another go tonight :)
